Abstract

Technology has changed the traditional way of seeing the world; it has played a fundamental role in the way we communicate, in behavior, in the new schemes in higher education and has even caused repercussions in the way of life of the new generations. The group of interest in the study are the young people we know as the millennial generation. They are subjects that solve any doubt in a second, just by clicking on the browser and placing the magic words, thanks to YouTube they can obtain in a better-explained way whatever they are looking for. These young people have a very strong profile of participation in social networks through smartphones or other mobile devices such as tablets. The purpose of the article is to reveal the main attributes that define the millennial students of Centro Regional Universitario de Colon regarding the use of technology. In this way, provide the reader with the most relevant aspects that allow understanding behavior, their motivations, the possibilities, or different ways that the advancement of the digital age offers, even more so when it is an area of knowledge that is constantly and rapidly evolving. The methodology is research with an interpretive qualitative approach. It is supported by the document analysis technique, a survey that analyzes the capacity and disposition of students when attending an online questionnaire with 35 questions sent to the students' email. From the results, there is evidence of a significant number of women who answered the questionnaire 76.6% and men 23.3%. Regarding the advance in the use of mobile technology with Smartphone 64%, with computers 63% and 38% have a tablet. Of relevance is to show whether there are adequate competencies when using digital technology for academic and social purposes that transcends as a resource to their training, individual and collective process in the youth of Colon.
