Abstract

This article examines the importance of information systems as mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the health condition of the population with disabilities. It is conceived as an important opportunity to understand the health of people with disabilities through timely and reliable registration in electronic information systems that are being developed in the Panamanian health systems. To understand more about people with disabilities, some related definitions are presented. A comparative analysis of the results of the Census of Population and Housing of 2000 and 2010 with respect to people with disabilities is made, highlighting the main disabilities observe in the Panamanian population.
