Abstract

The Burnout Syndrome is a state of physical and emotional fatigue of the working conditions or professional overload, driving to deficient workers. The study of this syndrome in undergraduate students is a line of research aimed to confirm the incidence of this condition in pre-professional groups. The objective of this research is to examine the existence of Burnout Syndrome in students of the College of Natural and Exact Sciences and Technology of the University of Panama. The sample of 220 students represents the Schools of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Statistics. The data in this study do not evidence the presence of Burnout Syndrome, which requires the existence of high levels of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, and low levels of personal fulfillment. The preliminary results have an equitable distribution among the high, medium and low levels of the three dimensions examined.
