The amount of agro-industrial waste generated during various stages and processes has become a global problem because it is often not processed or appropriately handled. However, these residues have great potential to be used in other processes, such as creating new products or adding value to existing ones. This article reviews various publications evaluating agro-industrial waste for use as raw materials in producing biofuels using thermochemical treatments. This is a descriptive-exploratory study of scientific literature review sourced by reliable and high-quality journals. The review covers topics such as preventing and mitigating adverse impacts and using pyrolysis, gasification, combustion, and hydro-liquefaction. The objective is to demonstrate that agro-industrial waste has excellent properties for biodiesel production Among the most important categories identified in the literature review was bioenergy production, including bioethanol, biodiesel, biogas, and biomass energy. Utilizing these wastes has become an area of great interest due to the environmental and economic benefits that promote sustainable development.
