Abstract

The paper presents an analysis on the construction of the nationalist memory of the events of the Panamanian struggle in the achievement of identity as an independent country; The writing focuses on the way in which some historical figures point out ideas that become collective constructs of the independence consciousness; It also highlights how this dynamic is finally condensed in the Panamanian ideology that allows the idea of Panama's autonomy of the colonialist enclave of the United States of America to be disseminated on a local and international scale. In this way, the work proposes a contextualization of some national processes that can justify the approach of new ways of analysis for the writing of national history both in the historiographical and political.
