Abstract

The circularity of water is the new paradigm that will lead Panamanian society to venture into the efficient use of water for human and industrial consumption, based on the circular economy model, as a pattern towards environmental sustainability. Water is the most important resource for the development of our economy and is being threatened by social deterioration and environmental degradation in recent decades. The water circularity model proposes incorporating the wastewater once it has been treated and discharged in the Wastewater Treatment Plant located in Juan Díaz, in non-conventional uses; the purpose is to replace the use of drinking water with treated water for a second life. This regenerative practice reduces the traditional model of use and consumption of drinking water, with lower quality water for service, irrigation, cleaning, industrial uses, among other applications. The circularity of water is the only option that stimulates the natural water cycle by preserving water sources to achieve a more efficient and sustainable economy.
