The development of educational systems and, therefore. Competency-based curriculum planning requires, first and foremost, a change in the attitude of the teacher if quality higher education is to be pursued. The development of the curriculum and its strategic planning have been aspects of paramount importance that are at the forefront of decision makers, with the clear intention of adjusting careers, plans and programs to the demands of the labor markets that are becoming more demanding every day. It is logical that the different diagnoses that have been made in the last five years by educational institutions at all levels offer similar results and the same conclusion: We must update the curriculum! This article corresponds to the results of a research previously carried out on the willingness of the teacher to use a curricular planning based on competencies at the higher level, which shows the different opinions of the actors themselves, all university professors of the Regional Center of Colón, of the Republic of Panama, considering the most important variables that can be reflected in the quality of higher education.
