Abstract

The environmental issue plays a role of the highest priority in human existence itself, which is clearly reflected through the Sustainable Development Goals. Problems such as Climate Change, the melting of the polar ice caps and the El Niño and La Niña phenomena are some of the environmental challenges that affect us today, and that have caused profound changes on our planet.
In the past, our thinking was focused on believing that natural resources were inexhaustible, and that the advancement of humanity, far from harming society, had no negative impact on our environment. However, today we recognize, as human beings, that this perception was completely wrong, since today we are witnessing the consequences of our actions, trying to modify the environment and not developing a practice of adapting to it.
This article develops the topic of environmental crime from a sociological perspective in which it seeks to understand how the interactions that occur between society and the environment, linked to elements such as culture and social inequalities, can cause negative consequences to our environment. and the permanence of man on our planet.
