Abstract

This document is a compilation of international experiences from different countries in Latin America that adopted the recommendations of the WHO and established taxes on sugary drinks and other alternative measures.

Among the measures, we can find that of recording fast food or scrap, labeling policies and prohibitive measures in the sale or production of sugary drinks.  All this in order to reduce the consumption of the same and thus positively impact the risk factors that develop diabetes.

On the other hand, results of these measures are shown and the possible effects and impacts for Panama of implementing the law that is currently being discussed are estimated.
