Abstract

Our research is based on the number of "flushometer toilet type" sanitary fixtures within the Harmodio Arias Madrid campus in the district of Panama, province of Panama, which houses the Faculties of Engineering, Psychology, Veterinary Medicine, and Fine Arts, and includes the Faculty of Humanities in its School of Physical Education. This study involves collecting data that includes the student population versus the number of men's and women's restrooms. We have determined a comparison by gender, presenting a current density of 90 people per men's toilet and 40 people per women's toilet. A comparison was made of the number of toilets currently on the Harmodio Arias Madrid campus with the Mexican standards "Hydraulic and Sanitary Installations in Buildings" - ICA Foundation, A. C. & Autonomous University of the State of Yucatan, which indicate a population density of 1 toilet for 45 women and 1 toilet for 100 men. The necessary number of flush-meter toilet fixtures was identified and these figures were compared with those currently in use. It should be noted that the potential creation of new documents with regulations governing the installation of these fixtures is necessary, based on the needs and potential population increases in Panama.
