This article examines Meister Eckhart’s concept of peace through a philosophical-cosmological lens. It begins by presenting detachment and the return to original identity — understood as the identity of the gift — as the necessary conditions for peace. It then defines peace as the outcome of the soul’s union with divine being, conceived as mercy. The article proceeds to demonstrate how peace may be understood as a path that conforms to the occurrence of divinity as the potentiality to give being. Finally, it draws out the ontogenetic implications and universalist ethical consequences of Eckhart’s notion of peace.
