This article aims to characterize the Villa "San José del Lago" as an example of alternative tourism in Cuba from an environmental and community approach, as well as to determine the type of relationship established between the workers and the tourists in said entity. The ethnographic method and the following techniques were used: direct observation, document analysis, interviews and the SWOT matrix. La Villa has great strengths and opportunities in the development of alternative tourism that makes it a potential tourist destination in Cuba. It treasures great natural attractions, within it, its medicinal waters with excellent benefits for multiple diseases. It uses the Buenavista Green Map Network as a strategy aimed at creating an environmental culture in the communities, which enables proper protection of the environment by the subjects.
