The concept of competencies was introduced by psychologist David McClelland in 1969 and defined it as "an underlying characteristic in an individual that is causally related to criteria referenced to effective or superior performance in a job or situation." It has been widely studied in the educational field and applied to the work context. This study highlights the topic of generic competencies, based on the Tuning Project for Latin America (2007 and 2013), which will allow us to know the perception of generic competencies possessed by both university graduates of the Bachelor's Degree in Operations Engineering and Business Logistics. from the University of Panama, as well as the employers who hire these professionals in the performance of different positions related to logistics operations processes, which are of great importance in the national and international labor market. Increasingly, it is essential to assess the skills required by the different jobs, based on the changing demands in work environments. Hence, it becomes evident to consolidate the close relationship between the demands of the business and organizational world, with the academic curriculum and the study offers offered at a higher level in our universities. It is necessary to reduce and eliminate the gaps that separate the employability profiles between human talent and job opportunities in companies.
