Saint Augustine of Hippo, Doctor of the Catholic Church, is recognized for his legacy of knowledge; Virtue, Science and Charity being the motto with which the Augustinians identify themselves. However, how can this help the Teacher in his work? The aim of this essay is to reflect on these aspects. A total of 30 documents were consulted, addressing as thematic axes the moral virtues in the teaching field, how science and wisdom are related and why the teaching-learning process must always be accompanied by charity. According to the analysis, the most relevant and applicable moral virtues in teaching are prudence, justice, strength and temperance; while other virtues are governed by the first ones. Science by itself is limited, so wisdom complements it in a practical way and is applicable to life itself. Charity, understood as the genuine interest in helping others, must be the north in the teaching-learning process, because education is a vocation of service. In conclusion, the teachings of Saint Augustine of Hippo can strengthen the teaching profession, potentially having a positive impact on students and society.
