Abstract

The covid-19 pandemic has significantly affected the flows and mobility of people, and has significantly impacted the refugee population, asylum seekers and people requiring international protection, increasing humanitarian needs, the difficulties, xenophobia and violations of Human Rights, which has pushed this sector of the population to the limit. In the context of the pandemic, various humanitarian crises continued to be generated such as wars, persecutions, and violence, which produced an increase in the number of refugee seekers and the population in search of safe territories. The health crisis has caused devastating impacts on the entire population of refugees andasylum seekers, increasing pre-existing difficulties and generating new problems in cases of protection, health, access to rights, and basic services around the world and in Panama. In this context, it is important to diagnose and analyze the situation of the refugee population in Panama, from a globalized perspective, analyzing the challenges and responses that were implemented, in order to mitigate the effects of the covid-19 pandemic, in this sector. vulnerable population.
