Abstract

The profile of a university professor should be closely linked to the curricular content of their courses and in harmony with the conditions of their academic work. In this sense, strategies are proposed to strengthen educational practice and the teaching role, emphasizing the mission of guiding students to become critical, reflective individuals committed to social transfer, capable of solving problems in the moral, social, economic, and ecological spheres. The proposal seeks to identify both the strengths in the mastery of knowledge and the application of these cross-cutting themes in the semester and summer course planning of professors at the San Miguelito Regional University Center-CRUSAM. Through an analytical diagnosis, the effectiveness of their implementation in addressing the problems of the education sector is determined. The methodological design adopted is non-experimental, with a mixed-methods approach and descriptive scope, based on a simple random survey applied to a sample of 25 professors. The findings show that 88 % of the respondents answered affirmatively regarding their knowledge of the cross-cutting themes, while the remaining 12 % stated that they were unfamiliar with the concept. These data reflect an existing theoretical framework, but also highlight gaps in faculty training. The study concludes that there is an imperative need to train CRUSAM faculty in specific cross-cutting themes, such as gender, environmental awareness, ethics, equity, and diversity, in order to enhance the professional development of university professors.
