Abstract

In the context of the social dynamics of the time, driven by the transformation of the world and the growing need for information, city directories became a vehicle that provided information. This article aims to explore the content of the Panama City Directory as a tool for representation and dissemination of information about businesses, commercial activities, lists of professionals, recreational sites, parks, among others. However, its discursive content is considered a snapshot that allows an understanding of the way in which the sense and essence of history have been structured, linked to an imagined order of events that became the genesis of national consciousness. This document is divided into three points: first, a historical discourse, which is a territorialization of history adapted to the transit area; a second aspect is the character of the Panamanian being, its natural riches, and finally, the economic model.
