The main objective was to analyze the relationship between the development of job skills and the academic training of high school graduates in the province of Colón, in order to identify potential gaps and contribute to strengthening their preparation for the labor market. The sample included 191 graduates from public high schools in the province of Colón. The findings reveal weaknesses in emotional intelligence (45% with high levels), intercultural competence (68% with language difficulties), and technological proficiency (only 10%). A mismatch between education and employment is evident, with only 28% working in fields related to their studies and a high rate of employment in the public sector (44.9%). To address these challenges, a curriculum redesign with a practical focus (including emotional intelligence, technology, and languages) is recommended, along with strengthening the school-business partnership through internships and creating a skills certification system.
