The Theory of Diversity and Universality, proposed by Dr. Madeleine Leininger, is considered one of the most important models at a time when the migration of people is accentuated.
In theory, two disciplines converge, nursing and anthropology, which allows researchers to enter the formal study of multiculturalism.
The purpose of this article is to show a cultural experience when applying the ethnonursing method in order to identify the health-related cultural elements considered in the study of culture.
The article emerged from the experience gained from applying the ethnonursing method in the study, ¨Meaning of Cultural Health Care and a Drug-Free Life in Guna Adolescents, ¨ which allowed me to opt for the Doctor of Nursing degree with an emphasis on international health, taught at the University of Panama, Faculty of Nursing.
We are pleased to write about this enriching practice for nurses and especially to determine cultural care in public health areas, which allows us to describe the cultural patterns of the Guna people as it relates to health and a drug-free life.
