Abstract

Research is a fundamental element for the scientific, professional and disciplinary growth of nursing. To recognize care and the experience of health,  as part  of  nursing,  legitimately allow the investigation of individual and collective needs, with the focus on clinical and public health areas of interest,  such as the quality of care, the health system regulatory standards and the development of public health policies.

            For research in the discipline of nursing, it is necessary to establish agreements and consensus on the scope of nursing care and health experience, in this way to determine the route to be followed for the strengthening of research in the different higher education levels:

 

            The purpose of this article is to reflect on the importance of research for the nursing discipline, considering the role of universities in the consolidation of disciplinary of research.
