Abstract

Introduction: Nurses as part of the health team play an important role in prevention, research, teaching, management and care management of patients diagnosed with tuberculosis. Objective: Increase the level of knowledge of the nurses of the East Panama Health Region, through a training intervention of the National Standards of the tuberculosis program in the month of July 2018. Method: Quasi-experimental, descriptive, quantitative intervention with a sample of 6 nurses, who work in the TB program. A 25-question questionnaire was used as a pretest and posttest for data collection, which were processed in an Excel database to perform a descriptive analysis. Results: It was evidenced in the pretest that 100% of the nurses had low knowledge in relation to the norms of the national Tuberculosis program, after the intervention, the level of knowledge of the nurses increased; 50% obtained medium knowledge and 50% obtained high knowledge. Conclusion: Training is an effective method to increase the knowledge of the nursing professional, as well as being a strategy for strengthening the program.
