Objective: Among the objectives we propose the teaching of renal risk factors: arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus to the relatives of patients with nephropathies.
Methodology: The study was quasi-experimental, where a questionnaire evaluating the educational intervention in the participants was used twice: pre and post. A glomerular filtration rate analysis was performed using the CKD-Epi formula. The sample consisted of twenty-five (25) participants. The data analysis was performed with the XLSTAT Excel program, and we made a comparison of means for related samples.
Results: The level of knowledge in the pre-test was 28% while in the post-test, it was 73.3%. The participants had normal values ??for glomerular filtration rate and urine creatinine at the time of the study.
Conclusions: Talking about arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus as main kidney risk factors that can be modified with healthy habits to the relatives of patients with kidney failure is extremely important since they are a population at risk of developing these diseases.
