Abstract

One of the most vulnerable groups for contagion of the disease is that of health workers. Their occupational risk is determined by the direct exposure to infected patients. This situation is especially alarming due to the report of tuberculosis outbreaks acquired in health installations, both by health workers and patients. This situation has caused the Tuberculosis surveillance system to include health workers.

Objective: The objective of the research is to promote the occupational surveillance of latent tuberculosis in health workers.

Methodology: To calculate the sample, the prevalence of 5% with a level of certainty of 95% and a precision of 0.05 was used. The result was a sample of 250 workers, distributed into the  two stratifications, administrative and health personnel. The risk factors were measured by calculating the cross-product ratio (RR) and the confidence interval (CI) in 2x2 tables.

Results: The results that demonstrated statistical significance (
