Abstract

Nursing as a profession is increasingly focused on studying one of the most interesting aspects for a human being: the quality of life. In this sense, several theories have been generated that have tried to describe its meaning from different approaches, whether epistemological, methodological, or conceptual. This article attempts to improve nursing personnel's understanding of what patients who do not have the financial resources to face a life-threatening illness think and experience. Far from reflecting statistical results, it intends to describe relevant aspects like what a diagnosis is, the phases that complement it, and how to achieve quality of life by establishing a balance with basic aspects such as health promotion.
