Every day it becomes more evident, the need to take into account the opinion of one of the main actors and subjects of university education, the students, since with this it is about promoting in them their critical, reflective and proactive capacity, Therefore, this study focused on knowing the perceived need of a group of students of the Master's Degree in Higher Education (offered at the Azuero Regional Center and the "Octavio Méndez Pereira" Campus), enrolled in the seminar "Applied Statistics to Education" in the second semester of 2019 to include the subject of Statistics in the study plan of this academic training.
To know this, a descriptive study was developed from a quantitative approach. The instrument used to collect information was a questionnaire built ad hoc, structured with five (5) dichotomous items and four (4) items where participants had to select one of the proposed answers. The same was applied by key actors (students enrolled in the Master's Degree in Higher Education), to identify coincidences and discrepancies in their perception about the need to introduce Statistics as a fundamental subject in the curriculum of that Master's Degree. The population was made up of two groups of participants of the program of the aforementioned master's degree. The results demonstrate the statistical verification that more than 60% of the students enrolled in the Master's Degree in Higher Education at the University of Panama consider that the subject of statistics should be included in the curriculum.
