In 2013, samples of raw chicken and eggs were obtained in supermarkets in the town of Santiago de Veraguas. A total of four supermarkets were chosen, which were classified into those that had their own production and those that did not. The samples were processed to detect Salmonella sp. A general frequency of 70% positivity in chicken samples was obtained in all samples. When statistically analyzing the four supermarkets, no significant differences were found between the commercial houses. Of the egg samples, only one positive was found in one of the supermarkets. When comparing supermarkets that had their own production with those that sold products from others, it was established that there is the same probability of finding salmonella in raw chicken meat.
