Panama is a country of services given the privileged geographical position, allowing to develop important infrastructures such as the largest logistics center in the western hemisphere for the storage and distribution of world cargo, passenger transport, efficient and modern communication services that promote both national and international trade and giving economic sustainability to the country. As the main engines of the sector, the Panama Canal and the port system, these have grown generating an attraction for value-added logistics operations, promoting an ideal place for doing business in this region.
Despite the geographical benefits, the maritime-logistics cluster and other activities that take place in the province of Colon, it is not evident a formal and continuous development of its ancillary maritime industries with enough facilities for an efficient attendance of vessels arriving at ports or canal, particularly due to the lack of docks supporting these activities.
The objective is to propose the creation of a dock with all the necessary facilities for the development and administration of ancillary maritime industries in the Atlantic sector, to promote a regional maritime cluster in an environment of common interests, and oriented to increase the Panamanian maritime sector competitiveness.
