The COVID-19 pandemic forced all the countries of the world to standstill, to impose a quarantine that stopped economies, closed borders, and forced everyone to stay home. In more than 190 countries, face-to-face education was stopped, forcing the virtual classes. In Panama, the academic period was interrupted, and public and private universities suspended face-to-face activities. The University of Panama took the decision to change from face-to-face classes to virtual classes nationwide just weeks before to start the enrollment period for the first semester 2020. The Colon´s Regional University Center followed the guidelines of the Chancellor and the Academic Council and accepted the virtual classes which generated a series of confusing situations among the university community. The semester was spent virtually, but a concern to know the opinions and experiences of students. Through a poll opinion of 110 students from the faculties of Business Administration and Accounting, and Public Administration, a series of positive and negative aspects of the first virtual semester were identified, highlighting socioeconomic problems and others related to professors. The students demonstrated to understand the complexity of the context and current situation, but they require actions on negative circumstances of the new modality to improve the virtual teaching-learning process.
