Ovarian carcinoid is an extremely rare neoplasm, accounting for less than 1% of all ovarian tumors. This entity is a variant of mature cystic teratoma and is characterized by the presence of well-differentiated thyroid tissue (ovarian struma) and carcinoid elements. We present the case of a 51-year-old patient who underwent total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy for uterine myomatosis, in whom a carcinoid of the ovary was incidentally identified on histopathological examination. Although most of these tumors are benign, there are reports of cases with malignant potential and metastasis. The treatment of choice is surgical, and the prognosis is usually favorable, especially in lesions confined to the ovary.
