Complex regional pain syndrome is currently a poorly understood entity regarding its cause and initiating mechanisms. Symptoms are usually very intense and profoundly affect the quality of life of people who suffer from the disease. This review article will summarize recent concepts in possible physiopathological mechanisms of origin, clinical manifestations, and modes of treatment.
