Penile cancer is an uncommon tumor, which presents in the sixth decade. Its appearance is determined by factors like circumcision, clean liness, phimosis, sexual couples number, human papillomavirus infection and tobacco exposition. This is a descriptive, transversal study with the principal objective of presenting the demographic and clinical characteristics of the penile cancer presentation in our patients.
The 87% of the cases were half-caste and we didn't have white patients. A 93% of the cases were from rural communities. Most patients were between 30 and 60 years old, almost the half of the cases (47%), while 20% were younger than 30 years old. Two thirds of the patients were single. A lot of them (80%) work in agricultural labors and all of them (100%) aren't circumcidated. The 40% of the cases had phimosis, no differences between the people exposed or not exposed to the tobacco.
We should considerate the circumcision as a prophylactic procedure to prevent penile cancer, principally in patients with phymosis or excessive prepuce.
