Abstract

This is a descriptive study of the pediatric brain tumors, registered at Panama Children's Hospital during a ten year period (January 1991 to December 2001). We present the principal epidemiological facts. In many cases, subtle signs precede the evident apparition of malignant endocraneal hypertension. Gliomas are the most frequent group. We mention some clinical signs that could alert us about the presence of a brain tumor in a child, with some comments on the social impact of this disease on the lives of these children and their families.
