It is presented a congenital diaphragmatic hernia (Bochdalek) in a fifteen years old patient after a light trauma diagnosed 48 hours later. This lesion is extremely rare in adults. lt happens in 1 of 3000 newborns and approximately 75% of them are premature or die before translation to a pediatric center. That's because hernias through the foramen of Bochdalek represents a diagnostic and therapeutic goal for the surgeon.
It is a congenital defect of diaphragm, located in the posterior portion. It results from the interference in the development of the diaphragm by a failure of the pleuriperitoneal canal to close.
The ones presented in adults without immediately antecedents of trauma are less than 1% of the ones treated by the thoracic surgeon. This is a case where is analyzed the surgical method and review.
