The Intensive Care Unit arises from the necessity to provide a more careful and effective attention to people with their life in danger. Due to the cloudy limits between life and death that have created by the advances in the biomedical interventions, this unit can be an example of the humanistic care in its better expression or in the worse one. The staff of this unit tends to be made up of people orienled to the action and the psychological part rather tends to be secondary or a hindrance, becoming easily an impersonal and dehumanized place.
