With all technological innovations coming toward us, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Panama started the application of the Medical Informatics for the first time. Dr. Silvio Vega, with a group of students like Kenny De Gracia, begun what we know as the Center of Documentation and Medical Informatics (CDIM). Meanwhile, the necessity to spread all kind of information about the Faculty appeared. With this in mind, Jorge Méndez, followed by Ariel Pérez, supported by Dr. Enrique Mendoza, give shape to what we know as the Faculty of Medicine Official Web Site. Also, the Latinamerican Virtual Library is an international project that permits students journals, as the Revista MédicoCientífica,shareagreatdatabase ofallthe publishedarticles. In this way, is easier to do global searches, which help researchers to look for new references. We can see how students took the first step in this discipline, atlitude that has been recognize historically, proving tobethe engineofmedicalinformaticsinourcountry. All these advances were recognized as tools in the teaching and learning process in the health sector, and also they maintain our University as the leader in research and education in Panama.
