Leiomyomas are rare benign tumors. They account for 3-6 % of all gastric tumors. These tumors predominantly arise in middle aged individuals and in the elderly. In general they are asymptomatic, but can cause bleeding and abdominal pain. Occasionally an abdominal mass may be palpable. Air-contrast studies, computed tomography, endoscopic ultrasound and endoscopy can be helpful for diagnosis, but often definitive diagnosis is possible only alter surgical excisión. Despite the benign behavior and favorable prognosis of gastric leiomyomas, It is important to know the relevant features of these tumors in order to differentiate them from other malignant or life threatening conditions. We present the case of a 66 years old lady who came to the hospital alter an episode of haematemeis and melena. A gastric tumor was found in endoscopy. She underwent a subtotal gastrectomy Bilrooth type 1. The histopathology report reveals a gastric leiomioma.
