Bronchogenic cysts are embryological defects from the aberration in the budding of the primitive gut and are uncommon in the retroperitoneum.
A 48 year old male from San Miguelito with left complete staghorn calculi and right uretheral calculi managed with bilateral uretheral double J stent came to the emergency room of the Dr. Arnulfo Arias Madrid Hospital with worsening of his renal colic. A Computed Tomography was performed, with an incidental finding of a lobulated mass of 6x5.2x5.2cm in the posterior portion of the gastric fundus in intimate contact with the left phrenic region.
After prior bilateral removal of both double J uretheral stents and replacement with a new set of double J uretheral stents (the right stent through lithotripsy due to proximal calcification) by the urologist, the patient is transferred to the General Surgery Service whom performed a therapeutic and diagnostic laparoscopy, retroperitoneal cyst resection plus left diaphragm raffia and a chest tube placement.
