Leiomyomas are benign tumors that originate from smooth muscle cells. They are the most frequent tumor found in the uterus, with a prevalence of 70% in women of reproductive age. Paravaginal leiomyomas are extremely rare, which makes it difficult to establish their prevalence. This is the first case reported in Panama.
A case of a 45-year-old female, which is admitted for the study of a right paravaginal mass. She had a history of nine months of difficulty with micturition, managed with a vesical catheter. In addition, she presented with fetid leukorrhea, mild pain on the hypogastrium and constipation with diminished fecal diameter. During her hospitalization, an abdominopelvic tomography reported a right paravaginal mass with compromise of the bladder and rectum and elevation of the uterus. A colonoscopy and cystoscopy were performed, without abnormal findings. The mass was extracted, and the biopsy reported a paravaginal leiomyoma.
