The acquired immunodeficieney syndrome (AIDS) has been the principal public health and medical challenge of the twenty century. In 1999 fifteen years has passed from the notification of the first case of AIDS in Panama. In this monography the more important events surrounding this public health and medical challenge have been considered. It's reflects AIDS as a disease that is moving faster in Panama and the difficulties for its control and prevention.
