Abstract

Expanding the population coverage of educational systems, through virtual platforms, has a weakness that is implicit in social phenomena of digital modernity: cybercrime. It is a phenomenon of all societies that accompanies their development and their dependence of the communication technology to achieve quality of life. It is presented as a stream of ordinary crime, with its own characteristics, which constantly threatens the life, health and property of users. From illicit actions such as online harassment (Bulling), through scams and online theft to fake profiles as a lure for kidnappings flood the global networks. In Panama, official statistics indicate that in the five years 2016 -2021 cyber criminal behaviors have had an exponential increase, which has dire consequences for individuals and society in general. This article is an analysis of the preventive actions against cybercrime carried out by the country's universities in combat, and the prevention of this type of activity. The study is based on the description of the training offer for its platforms and the security mechanisms found in them
