Abstract

The process that frames the development of New Public Management in Latin America is described, a paradigm designed for the State to develop its full potential by providing efficient services free of bureaucratic processes. It is established that in the Latin American region, governments face various challenges based on transformations that occur in society, due to social demands, where the role of the State is important due to the commitment to transparency in public management, participation citizen, among others. The experience of Latin American countries has favored the implementation of public policies, with modifications in structures through the incorporation of technology in the processes. The purpose of this research is to point out how the new public management in some Latin American countries has improved the structure of the State, with a new vision in the provision of public services.  Methodologically, it was based on a qualitative design with a phenomenological approach and, using the documentary technique, it was given a longitudinal scope from 1988 to the 2010-2020 decade. This development was shown through the background that began its implementation in the region, explaining the processes of State Reform and the relevant countries, concluding that these actions result in profound transformations in public management, since the State is viewed as a tool for progress and economic, political and social changes.
