Diagnose the professors’ perception about strategies based on pragmatic competencies in the English Language. Specially, Professors at English School, Faculty of Humanities, University of Panama. Supported by authors: Bachman & Palmer (2010). A mix approach was considered, projective type, with a non-experimental field design, the population was 88 professors. A questionnaire with questions Likert- type scale was used, validated by 5 Masters in English methodology. The reliability of the instrument was 0.81 with a high value according to Cronbach’s Alpha. The results are presented in tables and graphs of double entry in percentages to processing, analyzing and interpretation of the results with a hermeneutic approach which allowed a deeper understanding. It was concluded that professors are impartial to perceive the pragmatics as the study of the language use principles which govern the use of language in the act communication, the professors disagree considering the pragmatics foundations are based on the speech acts theory, the professors strongly disagree to provide pragmatics content to the students in the class.
