Ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) are one of the most diverse groups of social insects worldwide, found in a variety of ecosystems. Studies on ants have been conducted in Panama and are ongoing. The objective of this literature review was to establish a list of ant morphospecies reported in Panama. The methodology encompassed an examination of the primary databases and reports concerning ant morphospecies in Panama. According to the information consulted, there are an estimated 11 subfamilies, 90 genera, and 681 morphospecies (including species and subspecies) in Panama, distributed across various ecosystems. In conclusion, ants are one of the most diverse groups of insects in Panama, with a significant impact on agriculture and the environment.
