Abstract

The Chi Kung (Qigong), Qi = energy Gong = work is an ancient technique of traditional Chinese medicine that combines gentle body movements, mental concentration and breathing to increase energy of the human body.  Several studies indicate that Chi Kung can serve as a therapy for health care. The aim of this study was to determine if the Chi Kung practice might have produced anatomical-functional changes in older adults suffering osteoarthritis (OA). The practice of Qigong exercises improves symptoms of osteoarthritis and isotonic muscle strength in older adults.
