The aim of this pilot study was to prepare an amphibian inventory in the forests of Cerro Pirre in Darien National Park, with data on its taxonomic and ecological diversity and its conservation status. Diurnal and nocturnal surveys were conducted by direct observation at six transects located at forests and streams, three in the lowlands and three in the highlands.  Amphibian richness recorded was 30 species belonging to one Order (Anura), 11 families, and 17 genera. A total of 270 individuals abundance were recorded, with Rhinella alata being the most abundant species in lowlands and Hyalinobatrachium chirripoi in highlands. We found the highest species richness in the cloud forest (23 species); whereas the highest total abundance in the lowlands. The family most represented was Strabomantidae with six species. The species richness recorded represents 38% of the species reported for the Darien province. Four species are in the ICUN threatened categories at global and/or national level: Atelopus glyphus, Dendrobates auratus, Hemiphractus fasciatus, and Hyloscirtus colymba.  The forests of Cerro Pirre seem to be an area of ??high amphibian diversity in Darien.  It is recommended to continue with the herpetological studies in order to know the amphibian diversity and its conservation status in the Darien National Park.
