Abstract

A study was carried out in the Coiba National Park to find out the population status and biometry of the Strombus peruvianus species. For this study it was necessary to do free diving with snorkel. For the research, 50 individuals were collected in an area of 100 m², during the month of October of the years 2015, 2016 and 2017. The objective of this research was to determine the biometric data of this species, as well as its habits and density by sex. The results obtained presented a total length that varied between 89 mm and 119 mm and a total weight which varied between 179.5 g and 392.5 g; With regard to sex, they presented the highest proportion was represented by males with 63% and 38% for females. The density was 500 000 ind/ha (0,5 ind/m²) which reflects that the population is in decline.
