Abstract

One of the scientific disciplines that has been most enhanced by Artificial Intelligence (AI) is Bioinformatics. The digital tools provided by technology allowed a quantum leap of quality in the understanding of the map of life, its functioning and characteristics which, in turn, determined an advance in the omic sciences and in the understanding and treatment of diseases such as cancer. The study conducted is a literature review in two relevant papers on the application processes of Artificial Intelligence in medicine from the approach dimensions of computer science and medicine, respectively. A documentary review was also made in other areas of biotechnology to characterize the progress and interrelation of the two scientific disciplines in the productive processes. The most outstanding conclusion is the advance in knowledge and quality of life that has taken place since the appearance of bioinformatics and the qualitative leap that Artificial Intelligence has meant for all aspects of human society.
