A method was determined to model the X-RAD 320 preclinical irradiator from Monte Carlo simulations using the DOSXYZnrc code from a point source of isotropic radiation that emits an energy spectrum generated with the SpekCalc program. The MC simulations generate a 3D matrix of dose per particle, from which the relative depth doses, relative dose profiles and output factors can be extracted. A program that emits planar kV X-ray images was used to correct the relative dose profiles for the heel effect. Due to the lack of experimental data, the MC simulations of this work had to be validated with the measurements made by Azimi et. al. (2014). The congruences of the MC simulations with the Azimi measures allow us to validate the methodology used in this work, if the limitations of the method used are considered.
