Abstract

The cloud forest represents one of the least studied habitats in the Neotropics, being difficult to approach to access the mountainous topography. The objective in this study was to make a first list of the diversity of mammals present in the Cerro Chucantí Private Nature Reserve (RNPCC), evaluating in turn their circadian activity and other aspects that can help to understand the ecology of the Cloud Forest of the RNPCC. We detected five orders, 14 species from 12 genera, for arboreal mammals. Within the photo trick of the understory, we detected six orders, 14 genera, 13 families and 19 species. With mist nets we identified 15 species from 10 genera, belonging to the Phyllostomidae family. In this study, it was possible to recognize for the first time the diversity of mammals in the RNPCC, which shows a very similar trend to other cloud forests in the Neotropics, with a total of 58 species.
