Abstract

The genus Syntermes, which comprises some of the largest termites in the world, is recorded for the first time in Panama. This genus was previously known only from forests and savannas of South America. In addition, Syntermes aculeosus Emerson is recorded for the first time for Peru. Comments about the biology of Syntermes are presented.
